Overview
Dry Carpet Cleaning done properly
Sometimes you can’t afford to wait hours for carpets to dry — a busy office, a delicate wool rug, or a room that needs to be back in use straight away.
Dry carpet cleaning uses a low-moisture method that lifts dirt with minimal water, so carpets are ready to walk on in about 1–2 hours. There’s no over-wetting, which makes it gentle on natural fibres and a smart choice for commercial spaces.
As a family-owned Point Cook business rated 5.0 from 300+ reviews, we’ll match the right method to your carpet — and if dry cleaning is best for you, we’ll tell you honestly.
The Green Lion difference
Near-Instant Dry
Low moisture means carpets are usually ready to walk on in about 1–2 hours — minimal disruption.
Walk on it in about 1–2 hours — no planning your day around a wet floor.
Gentle on Wool
No over-wetting protects delicate natural fibres from shrinkage and distortion.
Wool keeps its shape and size, so an expensive carpet stays an expensive carpet.
Ideal for Offices
Clean without shutting the space down — perfect for workplaces and high-traffic commercial floors.
Nobody has to work from home while it is done.
No Over-Wetting
Controlled moisture avoids the damp smell and mould risk that comes with soaked carpets.
No damp smell a week later, and no mould risk under the underlay.
Refreshes & Revives
Lifts surface grime and revives flattened pile so carpets look and feel renewed.
Traffic lanes stop being the first thing you notice in the room.
Family & Staff Safe
Low-tox, pH-neutral compounds keep the space safe for staff, kids and pets.
The space is usable straight away, with nothing anyone needs to avoid.
Our process
Simple, careful, thorough
- 1
Assess the Fibre
We check your carpet type and confirm dry cleaning is the right, safest choice for the material.
- 2
Apply Cleaning Compound
A low-moisture cleaning agent is worked into the pile to attract and encapsulate dirt.
- 3
Agitate & Lift
Counter-rotating brushes lift embedded grime from the fibres as the compound binds to it.
- 4
Extract & Ready
We remove the compound and loosened dirt, leaving carpets clean, refreshed and ready to use.
Steam vs dry carpet cleaning — which one suits your job
We run both methods and pick by the carpet and the deadline, not by what is loaded in the van. Here is the honest difference.
| Hot-water extraction (steam) | Dry / low-moisture | |
|---|---|---|
| Back on the carpet | 4–6 hours | 1–2 hours |
| How it works | Hot water and solution are injected into the pile, then drawn back out under suction with the soil. | A compound or encapsulant is worked into the pile, binds the soil, and is vacuumed out. |
| Suits | Built-up traffic soil, pet accidents, end-of-lease cleans, anything that has not been done in a while. | Rooms you need back the same day — offices, rentals mid-inspection, upstairs bedrooms. |
| Water used | The most. Extraction quality is what decides whether it dries well. | The least. |
| On set-in stains | The stronger of the two — the stain is flushed, not just lifted off the surface. | Good on surface soil, less effective once a stain has set into the backing. |
| Wool and delicate fibres | Yes, at controlled temperature and pH. | Yes — often the safer pick when fast drying matters. |
Drying times are for carpet and assume normal airflow. Upholstery, mattresses and rugs dry differently and we quote those without a fixed number, because the honest answer depends on the fabric and the day.

Good to know
Dry Carpet Cleaning FAQs
Usually about 1–2 hours. That’s the main advantage of dry cleaning — there’s very little moisture, so there’s barely any waiting before the room is back in use.
For heavily soiled or stained carpets, hot-water or steam extraction usually goes deeper. Dry cleaning is ideal for maintenance, delicate fibres and situations where fast drying matters most — we’ll recommend the best fit for your carpet.
Yes — the low-moisture approach avoids the over-wetting that can shrink or distort wool, which makes it a great option for natural-fibre carpets and rugs.
The carpet backing is often thinner in apartments and commercial buildings, and if a lot of water goes into a thin backing it can cause problems later — an odour that comes back, or browning, where discolouration wicks up through the fibres as it dries. Low-moisture dry cleaning avoids that, and the floor is walk-on ready in about 1–2 hours instead of 4–6.
Often, yes. We work 7am to 9pm seven days, so we can usually fit an office in before or after your team is in — and the fast dry time means they come back to a clean floor with no downtime.
If any part of the clean isn’t up to scratch, tell Jin on the day and he’ll re-do it before he packs up — he doesn’t call a job finished until you’re happy with it. If you only notice something after we’ve left, you have 7 days to call (03) 4328 5637 and we’ll come back and re-clean that area at no charge. It covers our workmanship, which is what a guarantee should mean: we won’t promise to lift a stain that’s physically permanent, and we’ll tell you that honestly before we start rather than after.
General sanitising and deodorising are included free with every job, along with treatment of common organic stains like coffee, wine and food. Pet urine odour treatment is charged separately — it’s a specialist enzyme process that takes extra time and product, so it isn’t part of the standard clean. We’ll quote it before we start, never after.
Same-day service is often available, subject to how the day is booked. We’re a local Point Cook business, so we’re usually only minutes away from Melbourne’s western suburbs — some customers have had us arrive within a few hours of booking online. Call (03) 4328 5637 to check today’s availability.
Jin — the owner. Green Lion is a family-owned local business, not a franchise, so the person who quotes your job is the person who does it. That’s 15+ years of experience on every clean, and it’s why our reviews mention him by name.
Access to the rooms, a power point and a tap. Please clear small items, and move any furniture you want cleaned underneath — we clean around whatever is left in place rather than shifting it. Let us know about problem spots or delicate fibres before we start. Pets are welcome to stay home — our solutions are pet- and child-safe once dry — though most people find it easier to keep them in another room while we work.
What it costs
Our rates, before you call
GST is included in every figure, and the quote you get is the price you pay — no extras added on the day.
- Standard room$45
- Master / living / dining / double / large room$90
- Hallway (up to 4m)$25
- Large hallway (up to 15 m²)$40
- Staircase$60
- Walk-in robe$20
Added to the cleaning price
These are extras on top of the clean, not a job on their own. For example, $45 for a standard room plus $40 treatment comes to $85.
- + Pet stain & odour treatment (per room)$40
- + Carpet fibre protection (per room)$40
$150
minimum per visit
No single item above reaches the minimum on its own, so one piece by itself comes to $150 — most people add a second one to the same visit rather than leave it on the table. The rates are what each extra piece adds.
- Add $50 once per job for an apartment, or for anywhere beyond about 25 km from Point Cook.
- Steam dries in 4–6 hours; dry cleaning in 1–2. Same price either way — the method is picked to suit the carpet.
- Coffee, wine and food stains are treated free. Set-in pet urine is the one extra, and it’s quoted before we start.
